Technical Gameplay and Systems Designer
Overview:
"Kane's Shadow is a therapy inspired alternative game. The main focus is playing as Kane, a college-bound adult taking a look back on his childhood. Aide Kane is conquering his childhood demons before the next chapter of his life begins."
Main Responsibilities:
-
Lead a team of 14 throughout an 8-month dev process
-
Designed and engineered core game systems and vision
-
Created an alternative controller from scratch specifically for the game and narrative world
This was my Undergrad thesis project. Over the span of a year, my team and I worked tirelessly to bring Kane and his memories to life. One of the primary features, however, is an alternative game controller I invented from scratch as a peripheral.

How it Works:
The controller uses the electricity in the player's body to pass currents to the game. The player attaches three metal nodes to their body and simply touches them, sending specific signals to make any input as needed.
Thought Process/Behind the Scenes:
The biggest obstacle in the controller's design was the issue of conductivity. With no budget or professional equipment, I needed the materials to consist of purely conductive materials so that the current can pass through. I had to balance this requirement with the look of the controller, comfortable feeling, as well as the overall purpose to the gameplay.
